Tiger fires a 9-hole 32 ... but we're talking about practice

Tiger Woods proved Wednesday morning that he can still play a little bit. He shot a 2-under par 32 on the front nine while hitting every fairway in his Pro-Am round at the Greenbrier.

That's the good news.

The not so good news? It was only Wednesday. The tournament doesn't start until Thursday, and Woods still hasn't proven he can transfer his solid play from the practice tee (or the practice course, in this case) to tournament play.

So what's the big deal?

Nothing, really. Other than that we've validated the fact that the main flaw in Tiger's game is taking place between his ears, not in his backswing or putting stroke.

His front nine Wednesday is definitely a step in the right direction, though. If he can continue to display that kind of solid play when it counts, maybe we can go back to talking about Tiger contending to win tournaments instead of his practice round proficiency.
