Tiger Woods played his first five holes since last August

Tiger Woods is back.

We're not talking virtual swings in front of a screen or crushing a couple drives at a kids' clinic.

We're talking walking from teebox to green, playing full holes.

OK, it was only five holes, but it's Tiger. When the game's biggest name hasn't played a round since last August, you take what you can get.

He and buddy Mark O'Meara played five holes on Monday at Bluejack National as Tiger officially opened the course he designed, according to this ESPN report.

So how did it go?

"I'm definitely a little tired but I feel pretty good," Woods said afterward.

Ron Green Jr. of Global Golf Post took over Tiger's Twitter account for the afternoon and posted a bunch of photos and videos of Tiger's play.

Word also spread Monday that Woods had registered for the U.S. Open, sparking talk of when he might return to competitive play to tune up for the major.

This wasn't it, but at least it's a little closer. Remember, Woods is recovering from two back surgeries and hasn't played in a tournament since he finished tied for 10th in the Wyndham Championship last August.

"I haven't been out here playing like this. I hadn't played any holes until today. I know people have said I've played holes back at Medalist, but I haven't. This is actually the first time I've played holes since Wyndham. It's been awhile," Woods said.
