A.J. Griffin gets closer to rejoining A's

Oakland Athletics pitcher A.J. Griffin continues making strides as he works his way back from Tommy John surgery that cost him his 2014 season.

This Friday, Griffin will have another rehab start with Triple-A Nashville, and, according to Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle, he'll have 'at least' two more rehab starts after that prior to rejoining the A's sometime between June 27th and early July.

Slusser notes that Griffin looked 'terrific' in his most recent rehab outings, throwing seven scoreless innings with Single-A Stockton.

Should Griffin be eligible to return as expected, he could slide into the A's bullpen or take over a spot in the rotation (if someone else gets injured or traded).

Griffin hasn't pitched since late 2013, as the timing of his Tommy John operation before the 2014 campaign effectively quashed his entire year.
