Alex Gordon has perfect response to threat of Royals' retaliation
The Kansas City Royals shrugged off questions about possible retaliation against the New York Mets during their season-opening series, just like they shrugged off the Noah Syndergaard pitch that created all the stir.
That pitch, of course, put Royals leadoff man Alcides Escobar on his backside in the batter's box at the start of Game 3 of the World Series.
Two games later, the Royals were celebrating their first World Series title in 30 years as the Mets watched in disappointment. And that, according to Royals left fielder Alex Gordon, was the payback:
From #Royals Alex Gordon: "We’re not even thinking about it.

Our retaliation was winning the World Series. After that, we moved on.”
In any case, the two teams will meet on Opening Night in Kansas City, where the Mets will get yet another reminder of what happened last fall. And it appears the only fireworks will come in a pregame celebration.
In other words: Scoreboard.
