Andrew Cashner shaves beard after being traded to Marlins

Published Nov. 15, 2016 3:10 p.m. ET

Andrew Cashner had a beard—a large, lustrous beard. And now it's all gone.

The former San Diego Padres righty was traded to the Miami Marlins as part of a seven-player deal on Friday, and he arrived for his first game with his new team looking markedly different than before.

Which is to say: WHERE DID YOUR BEARD GO, ANDREW??

This is an alarming move, although Cashner probably has good reasons for the switch-up.

Given its strength and vibrance, Cashner probably had a lot of memories tucked away in that mighty face-mane of his. Can't have the old intermingling with the new, not if you wish to fully move on from your past. Not to mention, South Florida in the dead heat of summer is a suffocating place to wear sternum-length facial hair.

R.I.P. Cashner Beard. I hope the Marlins go deep into the playoffs and a new Miami Mane is born.

Dan is on Twitter. South Florida is not for the facial hair.
