Angels: Kole Calhoun to miss tonight's game for the birth of his child
The Angels are set to take on the Rangers in Texas tonight. They’ll be without right fielder Kole Calhoun as he and his wife are expecting their first child.
Angels right fielder Kole Calhoun aren’t traveling to Texas with the team. He is staying behind as he and his wife are expecting the birth of their first child together. It’s unlikely he’ll miss the rest of the season, expect him out tonight and perhaps a couple more games.
Shane Robinson will get the starting nod in Calhoun’s place. Calhoun is a valuable piece to the offense and defense of this season. Batting behind Mike Trout and Albert Pujols, Calhoun has been able to chip in 17 homers, 68 RBI’s, and an OBP of .342.
Calhoun was drafted in 2010 and made his debut in 2012. Currently, he is signed through 2016 and eligible for arbitration in 2017. Most noteworthy, Calhoun is one of the few players the Halos are not willing to part ways with as of now.

While the right field (Calhoun) and middle field (Trout) are solid, the left field is a problem. The Angels have yet to find a long-term solution for left field. As a result, they are going to have to include Calhoun going forward. He provides much-needed offense when Trout and Pujols are struggling. In addition to C.J. Cron having the break-out year that he’s having, things are looking better.
We here at Halo Hangout wish Kole and his wife Jennifer the very best during this time.
