Angels put Shoemaker on 10-day DL, recall Bridwell

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) The Los Angeles Angels have placed right-hander Matt Shoemaker on the 10-day disabled list and recalled Parker Bridwell from Triple-A.

Bridwell will start against Oakland on Friday, the team said Tuesday.

Shoemaker is dealing with a strained right forearm. He was limited to 14 starts last season and had surgery last August to address nerve pain in his right forearm. He got the win in his first start against the Athletics on Sunday, giving up three runs and four hits in 5 2/3 innings.

Bridwell went 10-3 with a 3.64 ERA in 20 starts last season but was assigned to Salt Lake City at the end of spring training. The Triple-A season hasn't opened yet.

The Angels also announced Japanese two-way player Shohei Ohtani will pitch Sunday, his first start at home.
