Bartolo Colon falls a homer and triple short of the cycle in Mets win
Bartolo Colon put on another hitting clinic in the Mets' 9-4 win over the Phillies on Friday night.
Big Sexy doubled to the left-field wall to lead off the fifth inning, topping out at a Usain Bolt-like 16 mph on his way to second base. Once there, he gave Phillies second baseman Cesar Hernandez a free shoulder massage.
Not only that, Colon had time to converse with Phillies first baseman Ryan Howard during his 10.74-second trip to second.
Two innings later, Colon laced a single to left field.
The only other time Colon had a two-hit game, he did it for the Montreal Expos, who now are known as the Washington Nationals.
In addition to raising his batting average to .106, Colon also improved to 12-7 on the season after allowing four earned runs in seven innings on the mound.
Tonight is the 2nd career 2-hit day for Bartolo Colon.
