Baseball community mourns loss of Cardinals rookie Oscar Taveras

Oscar Taveras, 22, died in a car crash Sunday in the Domincan Republic.

Only 10 days prior, the rookie Cardinals outfielder was helping his team chase a World Series title as a pinch-hitter. His home run in Game 2 of the NLCS made him the youngest player to ever hit a pinch-hit home run in MLB history.

Taveras had enormous talent and was just getting started on what was anticipated as a long and illustrious career.

Sunday night, players, fans and the baseball community in general expressed their remorse over social media.
