Blue Jays' Stroman still aiming for September comeback
When Marcus Stroman went down with a torn ACL before the season, the Toronto Blue Jays were dealt with a blow: Stroman would be out for the entirety of the 2015 season.
He's working to change that.
While taking classes at Duke to finish his degree, Stroman has been rehabbing, aiming for a September comeback.
For the first time since his injury, he is scheduled to throw off a mound and begin his rehab assignment on August 21.
While it seems unlikely that he will build up enough stamina and arm strength to start games, he could surely impact the team out of the bullpen.
Manager John Gibbons would welcome his arm to the staff, but will remain weary of the long-term effects.
“We don’t sit here and look at it like, ‘Okay, he’s going to come to the rescue, save the day,’” Gibbons told the Toronto Star. “(But) I think it’s his goal and we’re on board if he can pull it off. But we’re not going to do anything stupid, either.”
Rosters expand on September 1, so don't be surprised if Stroman is able to make this seemingly miraculous comeback.
