Braves to start top prospect Teheran on Saturday

Published May. 6, 2011 8:38 p.m. ET

Right-hander Julio Teheran, the top prospect in Atlanta's system, will make his major league debut against the Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday night.

Teheran, 20, is 3-0 with a 1.80 ERA in five starts with Triple-A Gwinnett this season, striking out 25 against eight walks while limiting opponents to a .118 batting average.

The Braves needed a starter to avoid pitching either Tim Hudson or Tommy Hanson on short rest, as both started in Wednesday's doubleheader against Milwaukee.

Right-hander Jair Jurrjens (3-0, 1.52 ERA), originally listed as Saturday's starter, is being pushed back to Sunday.
