Braves top prospect injures groin in bizarre accident during break in play

The Atlanta Braves' top prospect, Dansby Swanson, had to leave Monday night's game against the Marlins after getting hit in the groin with an errant throw back to the pitcher.

The 22-year-old shortstop, who is currently ranked as the fourth best prospect in baseball, was struck after Braves catcher Tyler Flowers airmailed a throw back to the pitcher during a break in the fourth inning. Swanson -- the top overall pick in the 2015 MLB Draft -- was pulled from the game with a "right groin contusion," which doesn't sound like a whole lot of fun.

Braves fans just have to hope the friendly fire didn't do too much damage to the organization's prized prospect, but this is a pretty embarrassing look for the squad regardless. Then again, things can't really get much worse for this year's team, can they? (Don't answer that.)
