Brewers poke fun at Braun's spectacular falls

Published Sep. 1, 2011 6:42 p.m. ET

With a big lead in the NL Central, the Milwaukee Brewers are a loose bunch.

A few of them used white athletic tape to form a police-style ''chalk'' outline where Ryan Braun took a pair of spectacular falls while attempting an inside-the-park home run Wednesday night.

Right-handers Yovani Gallardo and Shawn Marcum, third baseman Casey McGehee and bullpen catcher Marcus Hanel made two chalk outlines where Braun stumbled and fell while rounding third.

Braun said he thought he fell because he lengthened his stride too much and stopped running in form. He said he has received texts and phone messages from friends teasing him about the tumble in Milwaukee's 8-3 loss to St. Louis.
