Chicago Cubs' Chris Coghlan tied the game vs. St. Louis with remarkably impressive RBI hit
On Thursday night, with the count 3-2, two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning, bases loaded, down two runs, the Chicago Cubs tied the game against the St. Louis Cardinas after one of the stranger plays of the MLB season occurred.
Cubs outfielder Chris Coghlan stepped into the batter's box and requested time.
It was not granted.
While Coghlan was busy petitioning the umpire, flame-throwing Cardinals pitcher Carlos Martinez delivered one of his high-90s fastballs. And while it was en route to the catcher, Coghlan was forced to defend the plate against a pitch that he hadn't even seen released from Martinez's hands.
Coghlan didn't just defend the plate, he roped it.

The eye-hand-coordination you have to possess to produce a hit under these circumstances is absolutely unfathomable. I would be flabbergasted to see this happen in baseball ever again -- truly one of the most-impressive plays we'll see this season.
The Cubs ended up winning the game 4-3 in 11 innings.
