Los Angeles Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw had a frightening moment Sunday evening against the New York Mets.

In the top of the fifth inning, Kershaw was at the plate and hit a ground ball to second base. Kershaw broke his bat on the swing, and the barrel whipped around on his follow through and struck him right in the neck (video courtesy of MLB).

Kershaw immediately recoiled and was in such shock that he didn't even run to first base.

This angle from behind Kershaw shows how flush the bat got him and how dangerous it could have been.

Thankfully, Kershaw was OK and stayed in the game.
