Texas Rangers pitcher Cole Hamels has been very good against the Cubs recently, and on Sunday he opened the game by striking out the side twice.

The MLB record for consecutive strikeouts to start a game is eight, held by Jacob deGrom and Jim Deshaies. Nolan Ryan still holds the Rangers' franchise record for consecutive Ks (at any point in a game) at 7.
