Cole Hamels suing for being shut out of Victoria's Secret Fashion Show
Texas Rangers pitcher Cole Hamels has filed a lawsuit against a London-based promoter after being shut out of last year's Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. Hamels is seeking $150,000 in damages, claiming that the promoter failed to provide VIP tickets to the 2015 New York City lingerie show, according to The Associated Press.
The lawsuit states that Hamels and his wife paid the promoter, Cornucopia Events, nearly $70,000 for the VIP package, which included tickets to the fashion show and after party, a four-night stay in a five-star hotel, a limousine with champagne, access to exclusive restaurants and goodie bags.
The Hamels claim Cornucopia failed to deliver on all accounts and were denied entry to the event.
"The Cornucopia defendants held themselves out to be a 'VIP' concierge/lifestyle management company with access to the Victoria's Secret fashion show. The Cornucopia defendants did not intend, could not and/or failed to provide the Hamels any entry at all to the [show]," says a legal document obtained by Law360.
Hamels will earn a base salary of $23.5 million in 2016. The former Phillies pitcher, who was traded to the Rangers in July, went 13-8 with a 3.65 ERA last season.
