Corey Kluber added to his postseason legacy by shutting down the Cubs in Game 4
Short rest? Regular rest? Extra rest? It doesn’t seem to matter to Indians ace Corey Kluber.
Just four days after holding the Cubs scoreless over six innings in Game 1 of the World Series, Kluber tossed another gem in Cleveland’s 7-2 win in Game 4 on Saturday.
Kluber again went six strong innings, allowing only one run and striking out six. And he joined some pretty exclusive company in the process:
In 30.1 innings this postseason, Kluber has allowed three earned runs and stuck out 35 batters.
The Indians can clinch their first World Series championship since 1948 with a win in Game 5 on Sunday at Wrigley Field. But if the series were to extend to a seventh game, Kluber would get the start on Wednesday in Cleveland. As much as the Indians and their fans appreciate watching Kluber pitch, however, they’d be fine waiting until spring training to do so.
