Neither Kris Bryant nor Anthony Rizzo advanced past the first round of Monday night's Home Run Derby, but the duo put on an impressive show regardless.

Rizzo, the first batter of the event hit eight homers, but was matched up against Josh Donaldson, who went yard nine times.

Bryant bested his teammate with nine home runs of his own, but Albert Pujols hit 10 to move past the Cubs young third baseman.

"I really enjoyed the Home Run Derby [growing up]; I don't know if I watched the game," Bryant told Cubs.com. "I remember Torii Hunter robbing Barry Bonds, but mostly it was the Home Run Derby that I watched. I was mesmerized watching how far some guys hit the ball."
