The Chicago Cubs are celebrating a long-awaited World Series title and the river is being used for the festivities in an awesome way

In case you’ve been living under a rock or just plain hate great sports moments, this past Wednesday the Chicago Cubs ended 108 years of misery when they claimed their first World Series championship since 1908. The curse of the billy goat has finally come to an end.

With this, the people of Chicago can finally rejoice, something they’ve all waited a long time to do. Without question, there is probably no fan base in the world that deserves to celebrate a World Series title more than Cubbies fans.

Well, they’re doing just that on Friday afternoon, as the Cubs are having their championship parade in the city with millions in attendance. Hell, to make things even more memorable, there’s some props being used — like the river.

Yes,as the Cubs are making their way through the city with the Commissioner’s Trophy, the river is dyed blue to celebrate the beloved franchise.

Now this is not the first time that the Chicago River has been dyed, as they generally dye it green in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day. But for as awesome as that is every March, there is probably nothing that will compare for the people of Chicago than seeing the river look like it does on this Friday here in November.

This photo of the river on this day will definitely be plastered all over the restaurants and bars in the city of Chicago, that’s for sure.
