David Ortiz stuns everyone by stealing his first base since 2013 season
David Ortiz is tied with Mike Trout in stolen bases this season.
Ortiz stole his first base since the 2013 season on Friday night when he caught the Toronto Blue Jays napping in the seventh inning.
The 40-year-old DH, whose home run trots often last longer than commercial breaks between innings, scampered to second base so quickly that the umpire near the bag didn't even seem to notice. MLB.com reports he reached a top speed of 16.4 mph as he took off for second.

Big Papi refrained from ripping second base out of the ground, so perhaps this isn't the final bag he plans to swipe in his farewell season. And what a season it has been so far: Ortiz is hitting .333 with three homers, 10 RBI and one stolen base.
