David Price responds to 'hatred from Boston fans' on Twitter

With a great big contract comes great expectations and insults on social media. Boston Red Sox starting pitcher David Price knew the territory when he signed a 7-year, $217 million deal with Boston in December 2015.

Since his earlier seasons in Tampa Bay, the knock on Price has been his lackluster performances in playoffs games. In 10 postseason games (nine starts) since 2010, Price has allowed 40 earned runs in 61 innings for a 5.90 ERA and a 1-8 record. Most recently, Price started for the Red Sox in Game 2 of the ALDS in Cleveland, surrendering five earned runs over just 3.1 innings. That's sub-optimal, to put it mildly.

And that's the setup for this Halloween-themed rip on Price, which the pitcher noted before acknowledging haters and supporters alike.

Boston's offensive firepower ought to assure Price more postseason opportunities to prove the doubters wrong. Stay tuned.
