Dee Gordon calls his emotional leadoff home run the 'best moment of my life'

On a somber night that was filled with tears, Dee Gordon hit the most memorable home run of the 2016 season.

After paying tribute to Jose Fernandez prior to Monday’s game with the Mets, the Marlins somehow took the field – just a day after learning about Fernandez’s tragic death in a boating accident.

Gordon led off the bottom of the first inning for Miami, impersonating Fernandez’s batting stance from the right side of the plate. Gordon then moved to his natural left side and did the seemingly impossible, bringing himself and the baseball world to tears:

Making the moment even more incredible was that it was Gordon’s first homer of the season.

Afterward, a still shaken Gordon spoke with FOX Sports Florida about the homer and how much it meant to him (watch the full interview above):

Absolutely incredible.
