Detroit Tigers to call up newly-acquired pitcher Matt Boyd?
Is Matt Boyd headed to Motown already?
The news was first speculated when the left-hander was M.I.A. following the Mud Hens' 11-8 loss in Toledo on Monday night, as reported by The Toledo Blade.
The move doesn't come as much of a surprise. Boyd made his first start since the trade on Saturday for Triple-A Toledo, but only threw 40 pitches over two innings. Tigers GM Dombrowski confirmed Boyd was on a pitch count, although he didn't explain why. Reporters suggested that Boyds' restrictions meant a big league call-up was imminent, and the emptied locker Monday night seemed to support that.
Welp, some #Tigers news involving @MudHens. Went into lockerroom late after game, and Matt Boyd's locker was EMPTY. Call up?

Boyd, a sixth-round pick in the 2013 draft, is 9-2 with a 1.65 ERA in 18 starts this season between Double-A and Triple-A.
