Diamondbacks OF A.J. Pollock named NL Player of the Week
A.J. Pollock did it all for the Arizona Diamondbacks last week, and was duly awarded for his prosperity on Monday.
Pollock had one of the best all-around offensive weeks the National League has seen this season, for which he was honored with the NL Player of the Week distinction on Monday.
In a six-game stretch from Aug. 17 to Aug. 22, the 27-year-old center fielder hit .483/.516/.759 with a home run and four RBI, swiping four bases as well.
The Diamondbacks won four out of six games last week and approaching Monday are five games out of first place in the NL West as the pennant race soon enters its final month.
MLB.com notes that Pollock was awarded the league's player of the week distinction twice last May.
While he may not be receiving the national buzz he deserves, Pollock has had an excellent season for the Diamondbacks, and is currently hitting .324/.376/.495 with 13 home runs, 54 RBI, and 33 stolen bases in 39 attempts.
