Everyone thought this pitch was strike three -- except for the umpire

When is a strikeout not really a strikeout? When the umpire decides it isn't.

Take Greg Garcia's at-bat in the 15th inning of Friday night's game for example.

Garcia was so sure that this 0-2 pitch was strike three that he actually turned to walk back to the St. Louis Cardinals' dugout. And Los Angeles Dodgers catcher Austin Barnes was about to fire the ball to third base as Bud Norris walked toward first base:

But to everyone's surprise, the pitch was called a ball.

Garcia ended up doubling to lead off the inning but ultimately was stranded on the bases. One inning later, however, the Cardinals' Matt Adams ended the marathon with this walk-off homer:
