Baseball owners unanimously approve the $430 million sale of the Los Angeles Dodgers from News Corp. to Boston real estate developer Frank McCourt.

Oct. 14, 2009

Frank and Jamie McCourt announce their plans to separate after nearly 30 years of marriage. The announcement comes on the eve of the Dodgers' National League Championship Series against the Philadelphia Phillies.

Oct. 15, 2009

Through her attorney, Jamie McCourt says she will not surrender her ownership stake in the Dodgers nor her position as CEO of the team.

Oct. 16, 2009

Frank and Jamie McCourt both claim ownership of the Dodgers. Jamie's attorney says she owns half the club; Frank's attorney says his client is the sole owner.

Oct. 21, 2009

Jamie McCourt is fired from her position as CEO of the Dodgers, the same day the team is eliminated from the 2009 playoffs.

Oct. 24, 2009

Major League Baseball says it will monitor the McCourts' battle for control of the Dodgers but expects little effect on the day-to-day operation of the team.

Oct. 27, 2009

Jamie McCourt officially files for divorce from Frank McCourt, asking in the filing for half of the team and to be reinstated as CEO of the Dodgers. She asks the court to order Frank McCourt to pay her more than $320,000 per month in spousal support if she is reinstated as the Dodgers' CEO and $487,000 per month if she is not. Frank McCourt counters, asking in his filing to be named as the sole owner of the team and that the rest of the larger divorce proceedings be handled later.

Nov. 5, 2009

A Superior Court Commissioner denies Jamie McCourt's request to rejoin the Dodgers as CEO. However, the judge does not make a ruling on ownership of the team.

May 7, 2010

In a 55-page ruling, the Los Angeles Superior Court orders that Frank McCourt pay Jamie just over $637,000 a month. The total is broken down as $225,000 in temporary spousal support and $412,159 to pay mortgages on the couple's properties.

Aug. 30, 2010

The divorce trial of Frank and Jamie McCourt officially begins in downtown Los Angeles. The dispute over ownership of the team seems to hinge on a 2004 marital property agreement signed by both parties. Frank McCourt's camp claims the agreement shows he has sole ownership. Jamie McCourt's representatives claim the document in invalid, because two versions exist — one that gives Frank McCourt sole ownership of the team and one that doesn't.

Dec. 7, 2010

The judge in the McCourt divorce case finds the 2004 marital property agreement invalid, essentially overriding Frank McCourt's claim that the document proved he was the sole owner of the Dodgers. Furthermore, the decision forced Frank and Jamie to settle their dispute over ownership of the team outside of the divorce court.

April 20, 2011

Baseball commissioner Bud Selig announces he will appoint a representative to oversee all Dodgers operations. MLB sources expect Frank McCourt to fight Selig's attempt to take over the franchise.
