Giants battery mates Bumgarner and Posey set records

It was a record day for the Giants’ battery of pitcher Madison Bumgarner and catcher Buster Posey on Sunday afternoon at AT&T Park. Bumgarner struck out the 1000th batter of his career -- the 13th player in Giants franchise history to reach the mark. According to Andrew Baggarly of the San Jose Mercury News, the 25-year-old became the youngest Giant since the team moved to San Francisco to reach 1000 K’s. MadBum said he was aware of how many K’s he needed to reach 1000 and called the milestone “special.”

Meanwhile, his battery mate set a personal record for RBIs. Posey’s 26 RBIs in the month of June are the most he’s ever accumulated in a single month. Nearly half (12) of those RBIs have come in his last five games, according to Baggarly. Eight of those runs driven in have come on grand slams.
