Giants' Brandon Belt talks about his pair of triples

Published Jun. 25, 2015 8:30 p.m. ET

Giants first baseman Brandon Belt had a humorous take on the two triples that he hit in Thursday’s win against the Padres. Belt, not known to be the most fleet-footed, told reporters after the game, “It’s about speed, fellas.”

According to Andrew Baggarly of the San Jose Mercury News, Belt also said:

“When I sniff a triple, I’m going to turn it on and use those long giraffe strides.”

Belt hit both of his triples into the deep corner in right-center field at AT&T Park which is known Triples Alley. Belt’s two triples were part of a historic four-triple attack by the Giants.

The first baseman now has 14 career triples. He actually hit six in 2012.
