KISSIMMEE, Fla. (AP) Matt Harvey went three innings in his first appearance since Game 5 of the World Series as the New York Mets lost to the Atlanta Braves 5-4 in a spring training game Tuesday.

The right-hander threw 24 of 41 pitches for strikes in the first outing this year among the Mets' heralded young starters. He surrendered three hits, walked two and gave up one run.

Harvey faced a lot more scrutiny in his first spring start of 2015, which marked his return from Tommy John surgery and a 19-month recovery period.

This time, he wasn't concerned with proving anything, just working on a slider that he largely abandoned early last season.

Matt Wisler threw two scoreless innings for the Braves, who won it with two runs in the ninth. Emilio Bonifacio had the game-winning hit, a single to center with two outs.
