Hunter Pence is on the cover of the July issue of San Francisco magazine. In the feature profile of the Giants right fielder, the magazine dives deep into what makes Pence such a charismatic figure who has inspired legions of “Hunter Pence signs.”
Among the more interesting tidbits about him is the fact that he might be a wizard. The magazine points out that Pence's girlfriend once told his barber to give him a “wizard chic” look. Furthermore, according to the magazine:
You might say that the Giants have been on a magical run of late -- two World Series championships in three years with Pence as their biggest cheerleader.
All joking aside, Pence seems to like to read about wizards as the magazine notes that he has the entire collection of Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings books.

His effect on the team, one might say, was Gandalfian.
