Hutchison bumped from rotation, Blue Jays add Stroman

After a strong 2015 debut, the Toronto Blue Jays have made room in their rotation for Marcus Stroman.

Right hander Drew Hutchison has been moved to the bullpen.

He has an impressive record at 13-4, but owns a 5.33 ERA over his 27 starts this season.

Stroman tossed five innings on Saturday, allowing two runs in his first start of the year.

Hutchison came into the season looking to make an impact on the rotation after a strong finish in 2014. He says he isn't disappointed with the Jays decision.

"There’s not time for that. You don’t have time for personal things like that," Hutchison said Tuesday via Sportsnet. “I need to be ready to go tonight if my name’s called, so there’s no time for that. I can’t feel sorry for myself or anything like that. I’m not going to make excuses."

Rather than move to a six-man rotation, manager John Gibbons elected for this move instead.

"If we feel like we need to insert him in there, give somebody a break, we can do that, but we’d like to just roll with five," manager John Gibbons said.

Toronto maintained their three-game lead in the division in their loss Tuesday as the New York Yankees dropped their matchup against the Tampa Bay Rays.
