Indians dominate the Cubs in Game 4 to move within 1 win of a World Series title

The Cleveland Indians are a win away from their first World Series championship since 1948 after a 7-2 victory over the Chicago Cubs in Game 4 on Saturday night at Wrigley Field. The Indians now have a commanding 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven series.

This time, they did it with a combination of effective pitching and a productive offense that went deep twice.

The Cubs took a 1-0 lead in the first inning against Corey Kluber, but Carlos Santana tied it with a solo shot off John Lackey in the second inning. And Cleveland added a second run in that inning after some sloppy defense – the Cubs committed two errors – and an infield single by Kluber.

The Indians made it 3-1 on a Francisco Lindor RBI single in the third inning and tacked on a fourth run on a sacrifice fly from Lonnie Chisenhall in the sixth. And then Jason Kipnis busted it wide open with a three-run homer off Travis Wood in the seventh.

Kluber, who was starting on short rest after blanking the Cubs for six innings in Game 1, tossed six innings of one-run ball on Saturday. He struck out six, walked one and gave up five hits. Andrew Miller handled the seventh and eighth innings, allowing his first run of the postseason on a Dexter Fowler homer. Dan Otero pitched the ninth.

Game 5 is Sunday at 8 p.m. ET on FOX, with Cubs lefty Jon Lester set to face the Indians right-hander Trevor Bauer. If Chicago can force a Game 6, it will be in Cleveland on Tuesday (8 p.m. ET on FOX).
