Justin Upton ties Petco Park record in Padres win
Justin Upton has only needed a fraction of a season with the San Diego Padres to etch his name in franchise history.
Upton's two-run home run on Monday not only propelled the Padres to a 2-1 victory over the Cincinnati Reds, but also tied the record for most home runs at Petco Park in a single season with 15, a mark previously held exclusively by current Padres outfielder Will Venable.
"Everyone who has been around Justin knows that that is real power," interim manager Pat Murphy said. "That's thoroughbred power. He has picked us up over and over again."
Upton is thriving at Petco Park this year, hitting .301/.364/.574 with 15 home runs and 36 RBI at home, as opposed to .209/.301/.325 with five home runs and 25 RBI on the road.
