Los Angeles Angels Mike Trout Wins 5th Silver Slugger Award
Los Angeles Angels star center fielder Mike Trout took home another piece of hardware last week, The Silver Slugger Award. The award is given to the player deemed as the best offensive player at his position.
This award for Mike Trout comes as no surprise as Trout had another great season with the Los Angeles Angels and again is in the finals for AL MVP. Trout is one of only two players, with Mike Piazza being the other one, who have won the Silver Slugger their first five years in the major leagues. Piazza won the award in each of his first 11 seasons in the big leagues.
Trout finished the season with a .315 batting average, hitting 29 homers and driving 100 runs and stealing 30 bases. In addition, Trout led the majors with 123 runs scored and also in walks with 116. Trout also led the majors in on-base percentage at .441 and was second in OPS with a .991 average.

We are watching greatness every time Trout steps on the field for the Angels. I am hoping to see Trout play for the Angels his whole career. What makes Trout even more impressive is his humbleness and his interaction with Angels fans as well as fans across baseball.
The Angels have been truly lucky to have Michael Nelson Trout in center field. Just imagine for a minute what the Angels would be like without #27 in center. Scary thought isn’t it. So at least through 2020 we will have the pleasure of enjoying watching Trout play.
