Mets' Wright sees first action in field in second rehab game
New York Mets third baseman David Wright went 1-for-3 for the second straight game as he continued his rehab stint Tuesday at Class A Port St. Lucie.
Wright, who has been sidelined since April 14, played six innings in his first appearance at third base and fielded three balls - a pair of bunts and a slow roller.
The Mets captain struck out in his first at-bat and popped up in his second before lining a single to center fielder. Wright served as the designated hitter on Monday night and singled and drew a walk in four plate appearances.
Wright initially suffered a hamstring injury in his eighth game of the season before he was diagnosed with spinal stenois - a narrowing of the spinal column - in May and shut down from baseball activities.
Tuesday also marked the second rehab start for Mets right-hander Rafael Montero, who allowed a run on three extra-base hits over two innings. Montero (shoulder) has been on the disabled list since April 29.
