Michael Young on Rangers' prospect Mazara: 'Man, he's a stud'

Nomar Mazara is one of the Texas Rangers' most promising young players: at age 20, he hit his way from Double-A Frisco in 2015 to Triple-A Round Rock and could be destined for a shot with the big-league club this upcoming season.

That's all according to Michael Young, former Ranger who was a guest recently on the Dallas Morning News' podcast

Hosts Evan Grant and Barry Horn asked Young to name a Ranger prospect he was excited about, and he wasted no time in pointing out Mazara's skills:

"I'm looking forward to people seeing Nomar Mazara. This guy can flat-out hit. I mean, I'm talking -- not just hit -- I'm talking impact, big-time run producer in the game. Great kid. Has the ability to be a clubhouse leader, a big positive-impact guy. Man, he's a stud. I can't wait for people to see him."

Mazara hit .284/.357/.443 at Double-A in 2015 in 111 games before being promoted to Triple-A, where he hit .358/.409/.444 in 20 games and hit impressive home runs like this opposite-field shot:

Young went on to predict Mazara will be 'banging down the door' by essentially forcing the issue with the Rangers' roster. Finding room for him - another outfielder - on the roster could take some creativity, but if he hits well enough at Triple-A the Rangers would have to do something to add him to the mix.

Once there, Young told Grant and Horn, the kid would do quite well:

"Sure and he'll be one of those guys who would give the organization every problem that they would love to have, forcing a team to make a decision. He's going to be that type of guy. He's going to come up here, have success, and all right, what do we do? And every team loves to have that type of problem."

If this comes true and Mazara becomes another hot shot young player on the Rangers next season, remember all this complimentary talk provided by Young.
