PHILADELPHIA (AP) The Phillies have claimed infielder Peter Bourjos off waivers from the St. Louis Cardinals.

The 28-year-old Bourjos hit .200 with four homers and 13 RBIs in 117 games last season for the Cardinals.

Bourjos was selected by the Los Angeles Angels in the 10th round of the 2005 amateur draft. He was acquired by St. Louis with outfielder Randal Grichuk from Los Angeles on Nov. 22, 2013, for infielder David Freese and right-hander Fernando Salas.

Bourjos, who agreed to a $2 million, one-year contract, is .241 hitter with 32 homers and 126 RBIs in 590 games. He likely will open the season as Philadelphia's utility outfielder.
