Prized Cubs rookie Bryant addresses rumors of being hung over

Published Jun. 27, 2015 2:22 p.m. ET

Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant has been in the spotlight since spring training. The prized rookie has done little to disappoint up to this point, batting .277 with 10 homers and 43 RBI entering Saturday.

But rumors began circulating that Bryant was hung over when he left Thursday afternoon's game after two innings with what the team classified as flu-like symptoms. He shot down those stories quickly Friday.

Bryant, 23, is one of the leading candidates for National League Rookie of the Year since making his major league debut April 17. But his production has slipped in June, hitting three homers and driving in 11 in 24 games. Bryant hit seven homers and had 22 RBI in May.
