Rangers said to be 'monitoring' Yoenis Cespedes market

Free agent outfielder Yoenis Cespedes is still looking for a lucrative free agent contract, though his market appears to have narrowed a bit.

With the New York Mets reportedly out of the running, Jesse Sanchez of MLB.com noted on Tuesday that two clubs - the Chicago White Sox and Baltimore Orioles - are now considered 'leaders for now'. Sanchez added, however, that the Texas Rangers are 'monitoring' the situation:

Clearly, this doesn't mean the Rangers will jump into the negotiations with an aggressive bid to sign Cespedes to boost the team's offense, but this offseason has already proven that anything is possible regarding surprise clubs winding up signing a big free agent.

A lineup with Cespedes, Prince Fielder, Adrian Beltre and a hopefully healthy Josh Hamilton would make the Rangers a tough club to face in 2016, but it remains to be seen if they have any real interest in Cespedes or if they're just monitoring his market anyway.
