Reddick brings back 'Careless Whisper' as walkup music, hits two-run HR
Oakland Athletics outfielder Josh Reddick is known for changing his walkup music frequently. Whether opting for the theme music of wrestling star Rowdy Roddy Piper earlier this season after Piper died or adopting George Michael's classic '80s hit "Careless Whisper", Reddick puts great thought into his musical selections.
On Wednesday night, without any warning, he brought back "Careless Whisper" - the song that prompted A's fans a season ago to lose their minds in the stands every time Reddick strode to the plate.
As you'd imagine, A's fans loved hearing the song again on Wednesday while the A's battled the Houston Astros:

What's more, the move paid off when Reddick blasted his 16th home run of the season in the fifth inning off Collin McHugh.
Needless to say, Reddick was pleased by the reaction the song brought with it. “It took everything I had to keep a smile off my face," he told Susan Slusser of the SF Chronicle afterward, adding, "Of course I hit a home run with it, so now it’s stuck the last six games.”
Echoing the idea that "baseball players are a superstitious bunch," Reddick noted that the song worked for him last season. As he told Slusser, “It has been pretty good, when I went to it last year, I kind of turned things around. I haven’t been feeling the best in the box since we came back from the road trip, but the home run definitely helps. I just wish it had happened in a win.”
Looks like it isn't going away anytime soon.
