Reds pitcher calls out team: 'We're damn sure trying' to lose 100 games

The trade deadline can be wildly exciting for contenders but extremely deflating for the rest of the league. Just ask Reds right-hander Homer Bailey.

Bailey, who has been in Cincinnati for three playoff runs since 2010, just returned from the Tommy John surgery that limited him to two starts in 2015 and cost him the first four monts of 2016. Unfortunately for him, he was thrust right into a ... last-place season. And he obviously isn't a fan of the front office's decision to deal right fielder Jay Bruce to the Mets on Monday -- a move that will accelerate the rebuilding process but weaken a 43-62 squad.

Bruce leads the National League with 80 RBI and was tied for the team lead with 25 homers at the time of the trade.

Bailey noted that the team had played better recently, but that any momentum now could come to a screeching halt.

Ouch.
