Report: Rockies GM told Carlos Gonzalez he won't be traded
Colorado Rockies outfielder Carlos Gonzalez might not be on the trading block — at least for the time being.
A report from Venezuelan publication Diario La Verdad suggests that Gonzalez has been reassured that he won't be traded this offseason.

Translated into English, the report reads, "Carlos Gonzalez will remain with the Rockies. [General manager] Jeff Bridich has told him that he won't be traded ... at least this offseason."
As the Rockies reportedly agreed to a three-year deal with outfielder Gerardo Parra on Tuesday, speculation grew that Colorado would part ways with one or more of its existing starting outfielders: Gonzalez, Charlie Blackmon and Corey Dickerson.
In a story with MLB.com, Gonzalez revealed that Bridich called him before signing Parra to ask for his opinion on his fellow Venezuelan countryman, with whom he has played throughout the years.
Gonzalez says he relayed high remarks on Parra to Bridich, but said that he and his GM did not discuss his future with the team.
"I don't want to get in the way of the general manager doing his job, so I'm not going to ask him about me," he told MLB.com. "I'm on the Rockies, and he's the GM, and that's what I know. That's the way I see it. That's the way I handle it. No, he could have called me five seconds later and said, 'We traded you,' and all I can say is, 'OK, I got traded.' That's part of his job."
Gonzalez has developed into a superstar outfielder during his seven years with the franchise.
Since a breakout season in 2010, in which he won a Gold Glove, Silver Slugger Award, and finished third in the NL MVP Award voting, the 30-year-old lefty-handed slugger has been one of the most consistent producers on the Rockies' roster.
A resurgent season in 2015, in which he hit a career-high 40 home runs with 97 RBI has boosted Gonzalez's stock on the trade market.
