Report: Youkilis marries Brady's sister

Published Apr. 24, 2012 1:00 a.m. ET

Red Sox third baseman Kevin Youkilis and Julie Brady, the sister of the Patriots' star quarterback, have tied the knot in a quiet ceremony.

After more than a year of dating, the couple were married Thursday at their Weston, Mass., home in front of immediate family.

"It was definitely the greatest off day of my life," Youkilis told WAAF radio station.

"It was a lot of fun, good times. I know there has been some rough times with baseball, but — I don't usually talk about this — but it's something good and I wanted to share."

Tom Brady and his supermodel wife, Gisele Bundchen, were in attendance, but no Red Sox teammates were invited, the Boston Herald reported Tuesday. The three-time All-Star said he and his wife, with whom he is expecting a child, plan to throw a large party to toast their nuptials.

The 33-year-old was married once before in Mexico in 2008 but reportedly did not file the proper paperwork to make the marriage official.

Julie Brady has a five-year-old daughter from a previous relationship.

Youkilis made headlines in Boston last week after new manager Bobby Valentine said he did not think his third baseman was "as physically or emotionally into the game as he has been in the past." Youkilis later said he was surprised and confused by the comment.

The Red Sox (5-10) have struggled mightily to start the season, but they broke a five-game losing streak Monday night with a 6-5 win at Minnesota.
