Rockies manager Weiss supports 2B LeMahieu for All-Star Game
Despite being among the leading second baseman in the National League in several offensive categories, the Rockies’ DJ LeMahieu is not among the top-five vote-getters for the All-Star game. Teammates and fellow infielders Troy Tulowitzki and Nolan Arenado may have more national name-recognition, but LeMahieu might be just as worthy to be in the All-Star game as these two.
Rockies manager Walt Weiss gave a ringing endorsement of his second baseman’s All-Star candidacy. Per MLB.com, Weiss said, "I think it would be a shame if he's not in that game.” He also said he’d be happy to talk to National League All-Star manager Bruce Bochy about him.
LeMahieu is first among NL second basemen in RBIs (32) and second in hits (80). Bochy’s own second baseman, Joe Panik, is third in All-Star voting in the latest update.
