Royals picked to finish last despite back-to-back World Series trips
Can the Kansas City Royals get a little respect, please?
Fresh off their first World Series title in 30 years, the defending champs are picked to finish last in the AL Central in Baseball Prospectus' latest projections.
But all is not lost, Royals fans. Baseball Prospectus tabbed the Royals for 72 wins a year after making the World Series in 2014. Now it has predicted them to win 76 games in 2016, which probably means a third straight trip to the World Series and back-to-back titles.
Baseball Prospectus still has a lot of confidence in the Royals' World Series foes, though. It has the Mets taking the NL East, going 90-72 despite losing postseason hero Daniel Murphy to the Washington Nationals in the offseason.
Blue Jays star Jose Bautista got a kick out of these projections.
