Royals reportedly bring in ex-Mets P Gee on minor-league deal

The Kansas City Royals have taken a flier on the New York Mets' 2014 Opening Day starter for more potential pitching depth.

According to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports, the Royals reached an agreement with Dillon Gee on a minor-league deal for 2016:

Gee, 29, never quite solidified his place on the Mets, despite a 2011 campaign that found him finishing 13-6 with a 4.43 ERA in 30 appearances, 27 of them as a starting pitcher. Once the Mets' talented young crop of starters led by Jacob DeGrom, Matt Harvey and Noah Syndergaard emerged on the big-league scene, Gee was more or less left on the outside.

For his career, Gee is 40-37 with a 4.03 ERA in 114 appearances between 2010-2015.
