PITTSBURGH (AP) Pirates centerfielder Starling Marte was removed after the first inning of Tuesday night's game against the Chicago White Sox.
The Pirates characterized Marte's departure as right side discomfort. In the bottom of the first inning, he doubled to left field and later scored.
Marte is hitting .308 with six home runs and 19 RBIs. He's played in all 41 games for the Pirates and has played in 51 straight games dating back to last season. He was replaced by Sean Rodriguez.
