Stephen Colbert rubs Cubs stars for good luck
The Chicago Cubs got off to a red-hot start in 2016, completely dominating their opponents with unhittable pitching and incredible power up and down the lineup. Just look at the NL All-Star team and you'll see it littered with Cubbies. They have fallen off a bit of late, though.
Entering the All-Star break, they've lost nine of their last 11 games and their lead in the NL Central has dropped from 11 to just seven. They're still among the favorites to win the World Series come October, but fans are more nervous than they were in June. Stephen Colbert is among them.
Fortunately, he keeps three Cubs in his office so that he can rub them down whenever he pleases. Them, a three-legged rabbit and a horseshoe, too.
Colbert is a noted Cubs fan, which makes this cold open so much better. Oh, and Anthony Rizzo and Kris Bryant trying to keep a straight face while being rubbed by Colbert is pretty great, too. It's no surprise Jake Arrieta kept the straightest of faces.
