Stephen Strasburg just had the worst inning of his MLB career
Coors Field has claimed plenty of victims over the years, and Stephen Strasburg joined that list on Wednesday.
The Nationals’ ace was hammered for seven runs – all earned – in a stunning first inning by the Rockies.

By the time he recorded the third out, Strasburg’s ERA had jumped from 3.07 to 3.48. Every Rockies batter except first baseman Ben Paulson reached base safely against the NL Cy Young Award hopeful. And, yes, that includes Rockies starter Jon Gray, who drove in two runs with a double.
Stephen Strasburg allowed 7 ER in the 1st inning against the @Rockies. That's tied for the most ER he's allowed in a GAME in his career

By tacking on an eighth (and ninth) run in the second inning, Colorado officially made this the worst start of Strasburg’s major-league career. Manager Dusty Baker mercifully pulled Strasburg with two outs in the second -- after 71 pitches.
And this isn’t exactly a blip on the radar for Strasburg, who allowed six earned runs in his previous start and failed to pitch five innings in the outing before that.
